 Brighton has been a city since at least the 1000’s. The earliest maps indicate that it may have started off with only 4 streets and about 1/4th of a square mile in area. This is a far cry from today’s Brighton.

Brighton has also survived several challenges. In the 1300’s the town suffered from continuous erosion of her coastline, which consumed much of her farmland. The 16th century was marred by the French invasion. It has been said that at one point during this era the population had declined to just 2,000.

During the 18th and 19th centuries Brighton became a fashionable resort area. This revival was thought to have begun with the arrival of the Prince Regent (who later became King George IV) in 1805. The arrival of the railway in 1841 also continued the rapid development of the area. It was also during this time that the Palace Pier was built. The Royal Pavilion followed in the early 19th century.

Today, Brighton is called London on the Sea. The opening of a first-class convention center in the 1970’s. Today, Brighton is a leading international destination not only for tourist, but also for business conventions and conferences and retreats of all kinds. In 1997, Brighton merged with Hove, into the town that is today known as Brighton & Hove.

Brighton and Hove is adored especially by the youth of today. It was recently voted as England’s trendiest city. Quite a feat for this once little sleepy fishing village.

For travelers to Brighton, there are all kinds of attractions and something for everyone, regardless of budget. For the first-class seeking tourist, check out either the Hotel du Vin, at a price tag of almost $500 a night. Or, try the sumptuous Drakes Hotel Brighton at $475 a night. Both are terrific, if you don’t mind the hefty price tag. There are also hotels priced from as low as $80 (Hotel Imperial).

There are also so many things to see and do in Brighton. To start with, everyone should visit the Brighton Pier. While you are there, check out the amusement park. There are bars and various food stalls right along the pier. Also, do not miss the Royal Pavilion. This was redesigned by architect John Nash in the 19th century with a mixture of classical and Indian themes. It has been rated as the best of Brighton’s attractions and certainly not something to miss.

Other attractions that should be experienced are: The Lanes (a great shopping district), Volks railway, Kemp Town (an historic village close to Brighton), Brighton Beach, South Down’s Way (a national park), Preston Manor.

This place offers elegant, luxurious places to stay.

Another famous place for beachgoers in Sardinia is the Villasimius resort. It is located near a marine park and has many beautiful baches and charing almond groves. You can also visit Margherita di Pula for its great beaches and Alghero for its amazing Catalan-inspired architecture and shops where you can splurge your pocket money for souvenirs and other great finds.

Moreover, Sardinia holidays could mean visiting churches and cathedrals. These are other structures that you can find in Cagliari, specifically around Castello and the Marina neighborhoods. There are the Cathedral and churches such as the Purissima church which dates back from the 16th century, Santa Croce church, the Santa Maria del Sacro Monte di Pieta church, San Giuseppe church, the Gothic-Catalan-styled churches of San Sepulcro and Saint Eulalia, and the Baroque churches of Santa Rosalia and S. Antonio Abate. You can also find the old City Hall, the Archbishops Palace, and the Palazzo del Vicere around this area.

If you are into visiting museums, you can enjoy the Citadella dei Musei or Citadel of Museums in English and also the National Archaeological Museum where you will be amazed by the different artefacts such as ceramics, statuettes, Roman sarcophagi, Punic jewelries, Phoenician tombs designs and decorations, and jewelry made from gold as old as the Medieval period. You can also visit Anatomical Wax Collection, National Art Gallery, and Siamese museum.

Stampace area is the place to be if you love archeological sites. It has the 2nd century Amphiteather, the Grotta della Vipera, and the Tigellio Villa.

Well, it is. Which is why you should be thinking in terms of discount vacation packages for this year’s vacation. Many people, frightened by the economic happenings over the past few months- and they haven’t been too cheering- have begun to cut spending in an effort to save their budget. Cutting the fat out is something that can be good to do when you are facing a tight budget, and pinching pennies has long been a respected way to save money. Whether it’s group travel or solo cruising, there are other ways to save money as well. One of them is to set a budget for your cruise and stick to it. It might seem tempting to buy all those duty-free items on board, but think about it- there’s no competition, it’s a closed market. How can you know that you’re getting a fair price? Secondly, limit the amount of alcohol you drink, as it will likely be the one food/drink item that you have to pay for.
