All year long is the best season to travel: However there are times when it is easier to plan travel. There are other times when it’s harder because so many people are traveling.

Seasons of travel are not decided by weather. They are determined by how many visitors go to a specific destination at a particular time of year.

1. Low season means few tourists usually come at that time of year. Many seasoned tourists prefer to travel during low season because it’s quieter, and prices are lower. Tourists also like the authenticity of international travel destinations when things are not so touristic.

2. High season is when many tourists can be expected. In popular places, there is a flurry of activity, hotels run to capacity, prices go up, and streets are filled with visitors. Most tourists who take trips during high season, do so for one or two reasons. They seek different weather, or it’s the only time they can take a vacation.

3. Peak season is a lot like high season. Different destinations have different periods when multitudes of tourists visit. These peak seasons usually occur around a holiday or special event peculiar to that place. For example, while the winter holidays and New Years are peak seasons in much of the world, the Superbowl is a peak season for one city in the U.S. surrounding a football game.

The question is not when is the best time to travel. All year is good for traveling, depending on what you want to accomplish on your vacation.

Low season travelers enjoy the quiet and the lower prices. High season travelers go on trips because it’s the only time they can get away from their jobs. And peak season tourists usually have a specific holiday or event in mind.

The question is: When do you get the Best International Travel Deals?

On the whole, you can get very good travel deals in low season, especially if you’d like to stay in good hotels for cheap.

High season also has possibilities. Some travel consultants run special travel packages in high season. Normally you can find these packages advertised three to six months before high season begins.

Many travelers save money by buying greatly discounted travel packages. These include small group tours, large group tours, theme park packages (Think of Disney, for example.), and air and hotel packages.

Believe it or not, even peak season offers opportunities for domestic and international travel deals.. Peak season usually surrounds a holiday or an event, such as New Years or Christmas. Look early (three months to twelve months before the event) for special holiday packages.

Another travel deal in peak season is one you don’t necessarily have to book early. Sometimes, you can find a last minute special in peak season. A hotel still has rooms available, or an airline still has some seats, or a travel agency still has some holiday packages. They will offer last minute booking at reduced rates.

There is another peak season travel deal many people forget about. If you fly on the day of a major holiday, quite often the rates are lower. That’s right. Most people don’t plan to travel on Christmas Day or New Years Day. So airlines typically give lower season rates for flights on those days..

Geography

Bordered to the north by Germany, to the west by France, to the south by Italy, and to the east by Austria and Liechtenstein, Switzerland is a country with a strong tradition of political and military neutrality. As a landlocked country, Switzerland is renowned for its mountains. In the south are the spectacular snow-capped Alps and in the northwest is the magnificent Jura. Besides mountains, Switzerland also has a central plateau, composed of plains, large lakes, and rolling hills.

Language

Switzerland has four official languages German, French, Italian, and the little known Romansh, which is a close relative of Latin. So no, there is no such thing as a Swiss language.You can do better with English as most Swiss people speak it. However, it always best to learn at least one of the languages that the locals speak. In this case, German is your best bet. Many schools and institutions offer courses in the German language as well as other languages of the world.

Getting There

Three major airports service international flights. These found in Geneva, Zurich and Basel. You can also get in the country through any of the smaller airports in Bern and Lugano. Switzerlands Flagcarrier is called SWISS, a member of Star Alliance and successor of the famous Swissair.

Another mode of entry to Switzerland is by railway. Trains are extremely common and they arrive from everywhere in Europe. As one of the two most central-lying countries in Europe (Germany being the other one), Switzerland proves to be a hub of railways and highways to the rest of Europe.

Getting Around

Switzerland has one of the best transportations in the world. Their trains are swift and always prompt. Their buses are clean. In addition, they have nearly half a dozen different kinds of transport systems that go through the mountains.

Note that while many of the bus routes go through the scenic Alps, there is actually no intercity bus network. Moreover, you also have given a multitude of discount options, such as half fare cards, multi-use tickets, and multi-day cards.

Generally, there is at least one train or bus on every route every hour. In fact, there are routes where buses and trains are running every 30 minutes. Therefore, you will truly have no problem getting around Switzerland.
